The Election Board yesterday did what Rep. Rob Johnson should have done all along; let the people decide your primary race between you and Dana Murphy, not some perceived technicality. The way Johnson pursued this matter -with its slim chance of success – makes one wonder if he has a family vacation scheduled for the middle of the summer that he can’t get refunded. Frankly, it doesn’t show much confidence in your abilities to win the office. Even after the decision, Johnson still can’t let it go. This quote is from a release sent to OKPNS:
“Today in sworn testimony, Dana Murphy confirmed that her own declaration of candidacy did not constitute a properly notarized document. However, the Election Board voted to let her remain on the ballot anyway.”
To add insult to injury, Johnson didn’t even show up for the hearing! From the Murphy campaign:
“Johnson filed the complaint that caused this Election Board hearing,” said Murphy. “He didn’t bother to show up at Friday’s hearing and he didn’t show up today for the hearing. He started this, why didn’t he have the integrity to finish it?”
When asked, his campaign assistant Trebor Worthen said Johnson had a prior engagement. Most Oklahomans would wonder what could be more important than appearing in person on the complaint he himself filed?
If you knew you weren’t going to win the case, wouldn’t it have been more graceful to just withdraw the complaint instead of sending this negative message to the voters?

Rob’s effort here was just SO petty and then not showing up for the hearing is just really tacky. He should have been there to at least present a case as to what difference his complaint makes in the process. That’d be none.
